Main goal: facilitate annual fundraising

This non-profit organization raises most of its funding through an annual Walk that attracts hundreds of people from all over the region.

The organization's main goal with this website was to make it easy for participants to sign up for the annual walk.

The Suicide Prevention Team also wanted to make the whole process of registration and tracking of participants in the Walk easy for the team members assigned to the event.

Up until now, names, pledges, and walker groups were added to spreadsheets as participants filled out paper registration forms, but the system was becoming cumbersome and difficult to manage as the number of participants increased each year.

Easy sign up

With this website we created a customized system where walk participants can now easily register for the Walk as individuals, or as member of a walk group through a simple web form.

As part of the registration flow, participants can also order T-shirts printed for the occasion, thus increasing donation opportunities.

When a registration is created, confirmation emails are sent to the organization, and to the registrant, with details of the registration and copies of liability waivers and photo releases.

The Suicide Prevention Team members managing the event can access all the registration data, donations, and pledges for the current or past years in a centralized private dashboard section of the site without having to deal with spreadsheets located on different computers that might have conflicting information.

Donations thermometer

As walk participants sign up and pledge donations, the amount of donations is automatically updated and displayed prominently on the site to motivate site visitors and encurage new donations.

The site also facilitates other ways to donate via Paypal, or by becoming a Walk sponsor. Sponsors are also displayed on their own section of the site with the amount of money donated.

Adding events, news, and updating pages is easily done by the Suicide Prevention Team members through a password protected admin section.

Easy updates of pages, events, and walk photos

Other features of the site allow members of the Suicide Prevention Team to update pages and add events, news, and other relevant information about their organization through an easy to use, password protected, admin section.

Photos of the annual Walk are also published on the site and provide an opportunity to be shared via social media, thus increasing overall traffic to the site.
